Education, Engagement, Excitement, Etc.

A vital part of a missionary is his/her training. For me this means at least four years of college at Southeastern Seminary. I have officially completed the first year with 37 (after this summer class 40) hours towards my B.A. in Christian Studies and Humanities. Which I hope will give me a bit of a boost for the next three years of my education. I guess if I take 25-30 hours a year I'll have it done on time (I hope).

Another vital part of a missionary is their partners in ministry. There are many different kinds of partners that a missionary needs: prayer partners, financial partners, on-site ministry partners, just to name a few. But another kind of partner, one that I have found is a spouse. A Godly man who is souled out for overseas missions. Someone that I shall join with to spend the rest of our lives ministering for, worshiping, and glorifying the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. This man, who proposed to me three weeks ago, is Jonathan Stout. The man I have prayed that God would bring into my life at the right time, in the right manner to join us together as one instrument for His service. He has show in countless ways through the last year that it is His will that Jonathan and I marry and do this.

One of the most recent way that He has very obviously shown this is through the events of the past three weeks. Jonathan has been waiting since January for a promotion at work which would support us financially. We had wanted to put off our engagement until he got the promotion, but he finally decided that if he did not have the job by the end of the school year we would step out in faith that God would provide for us and go ahead with the engagement. Three days before school was finished he proposed. The last day of school he was interviewed for the job. We then began to look at buying an engagement ring, budgeting and deciding what we could do and what we definitely could not do. We decided on something we could possibly squeeze out at this time, even if we had to cut back on some things. We bought the ring Saturday. Today, Monday, Jonathan got the call that he had gotten the job.

The way that God has made it extremely obvious about what we should do and that what we are doing is right and good is absolutely amazing! All praise for our relationship with each other, the love that we have for each other, and the commitment we have made to each other belongs to God alone! Never could we have ever been able to do this of our own will and power. Only by the God that we serve would our relationship be possible. Only by His great power and to His glory could our purity be upheld in this manner. I pray that God will continue to rain His blessings upon our relationship throughout the rest of our life.

Blogs to follow

Two blogs authored by two of the most amazing young people that I know are: Courtney Cox's We R 3G and Paul Daly's Christaholic: The God Addiction. I would advise anyone to follow these blogs and watch how God uses these young people to glorify Himself.

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A T-SHIRT!

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A T-SHIRT!
I walked into Food Lion (I normally go to walmart) to pick up vitamin C (I got sick cause I ran out last week) I was wearing my "Bible Smuggler" t-shirt from The Voice of the Martyrs (which I randomly grabbed out of my drawer this morning) and this lady stops me as I'm walking to the check out line. She reads my shirt and tells me she is a new believer and she is interested in anything that has to do with the Bible. We chat for a few minutes then I ask her if she has a local church. She says she went to a couple in the area for a while but she really doesn't have one right now but she has been looking. So I, advocating for my own church of course, invite her to mine (she happens to live right near the seminary which happens to be right near my church). She asks me some things (good questions like: what is your pastor like? Do they teach the Bible? etc.) and as I answered them she got more and more excited. She said she would look for the church and would try to come Sunday.

All of this to say: Thank you, God, for being sovereign! Sometimes it is easy for me to forget that every little thing you do is ultimately orchestrated by God. For instance, I wouldn't have gone to Food Lion because I don't particularly like it, and Walmart is closer to work. Again, I had been cold all day, but when I got in the car to go home I took my jacket off to take my smock off and just didn't put it back on (she wouldn't have seen the shirt if I had my jacket on). And rather than walking to the first empty check out line I walked up and down the front of the store to look for a cooler with a drink that I wanted (which I ultimately never found) and that was when I ran into her. Normally I would say "weird how that worked..." but it isn't weird. It's God. I hope and pray she comes, and even if she doesn't I learned a valuable lesson: even when you feel as if God is not using you at that time in you life in a mighty way, He is, it is in the little things.

Composed: Crowd

Crowd

I stand there looking into the crowd
I don’t know where to go
Influences and Persuasions
Toss me to and fro

Where is the one who will rescue me
Where is the one that I love
Where is the who will reach down
And pull me out of the crowd
Where is my savior

I’m told that I should look this way
The reason is to please
But when I look into the mirror
I’m drowning in the crowd

Where is the one who will rescue me
Where is the one that I love
Where is the who will reach down
And pull me out of the crowd
Where is my savior

I’m stand there looking up the hill
He’s nail to a beam of wood
His blood flows down into the crowd
And now I’m finally free!

He is the One who will rescue me
He is the One that I love
He is the Who will reach down
And pull me out of the crowd
He is my Savior!

I see him walking out of the crowd
He’s one in a million, I know
The one perfectly fashioned
To live life with only me

Crazy Life!!!

So... Jonathan and I are not going to South Africa this spring break. Apparently there were alot of problems putting together a team and no one seemed to be able to raise any money (including us). Therefore we shall be homebound and homework doing during SB. We are keeping the door open for this summer and looking for opportunities to minister both overseas and in North Carolina. We'll see what God has in store, after all, His plan is the only plan.

New Year!

First blog post of the New Year!
Well, I made it through my first semester as a full time college student at Southeastern Seminary. I not only survived but I conquered! Two A's and three B's! After a semester of searching, God provided a job at the start of the New Year just when I needed it most. I consider my self officially settled in here at school in WaFo and I am thoroughly enjoying it!
I am still planning on going to South Africa in March. The only problem is that I have a grand total of $90 for the trip. I am about $2,800 short. Definitely in need of prayer for that and some financial help. Anything would be wonderful!
Dad is no longer pastor of Merry Hill BC, but is still in Merry Hill pursuing another form of ministry in the area.
I and my boyfriend, Jonathan (who is also going with me to ZA), will soon be joining Grace BC in WaFo and we are extremely excited to see what God has in store for us there.
Please be in prayer, there have been many changes this past year and there will be many changes in my life in this coming year.
Blessings!
